6. How is the Paris Agreement related to the Race to Zero?

The Race to Zero is linked to the Paris Agreement, since it was designed to provide support in the “real economy”, through a pragmatic approach to the fight against climate change. Men and women of action, from the business and institutional world, participate in this race, with whom we seek to support the Paris Agreement and achieve net zero emissions by 2050.

With this initiative, a coalition of Net Zero leaders is mobilized, representing 23 regions, 454 cities, 1,397 companies, 569 universities and 74 investors, that is more than 12% of the world economy, accord the UN page Join the largest net zero coalition.

This means that current emissions will have to be reduced to a point where they must be balanced with those that are removed naturally from the atmosphere, mainly by the action of forests and oceans.
