6. What is the climate ambition alliance and when did it originate?
The Climate Ambition Alliance is a meeting of countries committed to increasing their ambition, as established by the Paris Agreement. It was promoted by Chile at the Climate Action Summit held in New York in September 2019, organized by the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres.
During COP25, Chile-Madrid 2019, its president Carolina Schmidt announced that 73 countries have expressed their intention to present a climate action plan or determined national contribution (NDC). In addition, 11 nations have initiated an internal process to increase the ambition of their actions and show it in your national plans for 2020, as established by the Paris Agreement.
