14. What is Costa Rica’s role in COP25?
After Brazil’s resignation to host COP25, Costa Rica and Chile agreed to jointly organize the event. The proposal was accepted in the plenary of the United Nations Conference on Climate Change. Costa Rica had the opportunity this year to demonstrate its ambition regarding climate action. The Central American country hosted the Pre-COP in October 2019, which brought the parties together to discuss the pre-COP25 policies, which will be held in Madrid, between December 2 and 13, 2019. At this preparatory meeting Costa Rica received more than 300 people, including the heads of each of the delegations of the country’s parties to the Conference.
