FAQ about the Earth

Earth’s Evolution in 10 Minutes
1. When and how is Earth Day observed?
Earth Day, officially called International Mother Earth Day, is celebrated every year on April 22nd (this year, 2025, it falls on a Tuesday, two days after Easter Sunday). The proponent of Earth Day was US Senator Gaylord Nelson, who proposed establishing it in 1970, two years before the First Earth Summit in Stockholm in 1972, to raise awareness about the problems of overpopulation, pollution, biodiversity conservation, global warming, and other environmental concerns regarding our planet.
Since then, a series of activities related to our environment are scheduled every year on April 22nd, such as respecting and caring for natural resources like water and forests, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions that cause global warming and climate change.
