The United Nations, governments and many organizations are intensifying their efforts to boost climate education. The clearly visible effects of climate change are accelerating and threatening to disrupt the lives of billions of people around the world. In particular, the lives and livelihoods of younger generations are at stake

For teachers to be accredited as “Climate Change Teachers” it is required that at least 80 teachers register and complete 5 courses online. The next phase involves children who teach other children through a series of interactive videos that can be incorporated into the classes. This allows students to communicate more effectively with their peers to learn about climate change.

If the project is successful in the United Kingdom, the long-term plan is to expand it internationally. The experience gained in the British edition will lay the foundations for a broader methodology of learning about climate change that can be applied in different national education systems, including those most vulnerable to climate (Africa, Asia and Central America).

This initiative was inspired by a teacher training program in the Dominican Republic, with the support of UN CC: Learn.
