FAQs about Climate Emergency
10. What is the “Extinction Rebellion” movement?
Extinction Rebellion (XR) was established in the United Kingdom after about a hundred academics signed a document calling on young people to act. (XR) was released in late October 2018 by Roger Hallam, Gail Bradbrook, Simon Bramwell and other activists of the Rising Up! In November 2018, they carried out several acts of civil disobedience in London. In one action, in April 2019, XR occupied four prominent sites in central London for ten days: Oxford Circus, Marble Arch, Waterloo Bridge and the area around Parliament Square. Its objective is to gather support around the world around a common sense of urgency to cope with the climate collapse.
