At SGK-PLANET we have been reporting for fifteen years on how Global Warming and Climate Change are dominating us instead of us dominating them. Despite the number of Climate Conferences, Earth Summits, Protocols and Climate Agreements, for now the Earth’s temperature continues its unstoppable increase year after year, with the recently concluded 2024 being the hottest year on record.
We are all earthlings
Although we rarely call ourselves this way, since the term earthling is mainly used in science fiction films and novels, in which it is the aliens who call us this way to differentiate us from them.
If a real invasion of aliens were to occur, our fear would be such that perhaps we would call ourselves earthlings to feel stronger and more united against an external enemy of which we would know nothing, because as we know, fear unites people and greed separates them.
But in another order, in the future a collective fear of another nature could arise, a terror that would have nothing to do with fiction, extraterrestrials or anything like that.
We are earthlings, but not owners of the Earth
The danger we are referring to is of another kind, since it would correspond to the purest and hardest reality of the bill that Mother Earth is already charging us, charging us the bill for the disorders we have organized in her house. We are referring to this friendly rotating blue habitat that she has so generously lent us, but that we humans assume as our property, and consequently we believe we have the right to abuse it, plundering its natural resources, damaging its seas, soils and air.
What purpose should this Climate Critique serve?
In it we numerically demonstrate the poor management that humans have been doing to our Mother Earth, both the inhabitants and the climate authorities. The latter are supposed to ensure compliance with the agreements entered by almost 200 countries in half a century. The result of these repeated failures has been accumulating year after year and they are warning us of mega cataclysms like those of 2024, but which could soon come with greater force and frequency, unless we seriously start correcting the faults today, since tomorrow it could be too late.
The Climate Critique of SGK-PLANET
It is a special section that we have launched this year 2025, with an informative and educational intention about the climatic situation of the Earth.
Through this study we show the route taken from 1972, the year of the Stockholm Conference, the First Earth Summit, until 2025, a year that has started with three alerts. The first: 2024 has been the hottest year since records began. The second: the Dana, a depression system in the upper levels of the atmosphere, which caused unprecedented flooding and serious damage in the city of Valencia, Spain, in October 2024. Third: a catastrophic and unprecedented fire in the city of Los Angeles, California, which had not yet been extinguished by early 2025. All these signs are evidence of our lack of will and ability to stop climate change.
A format for this 21st century
Finally, we present our analyses and conclusions in a different style than usual, appropriate to the new ways of reading in this dizzying 21st century, aimed especially at the new generations who are committed to “short” reading, or speed and brevity of the time they are willing to spend on it. There is no longer any excuse for them not to find out what is happening.
For long-term readers who wish to delve deeper into these topics, we offer links to more extensive related articles.
Hoping to be of use to you, we would like to have you as allies against climate chaos and count on you to spread these concepts in educational institutes, to friends and family.
