For this year, 2025, the United Nations has decided to celebrate the International Day of Forests with the theme “Forests and Foods”, to recognize the fundamental importance of all types of forests for their impact on “food security, nutrition, and livelihoods”.

The goal is to raise awareness about the importance of forests for the planet, as they represent an important habitat for maintaining biodiversity, serving as the lungs of the world, and mitigating climate change by storing CO2.

Forests provide food, medicine, and fuel; they preserve water resources and ecosystems; they promote soil maintenance and fertility, especially for agriculture; they maintain essential pollinators; and they provide employment and economic resources for the communities that live in their areas.

At SGK-PLANET our goal is to “raise climate awareness for a more sustainable planet”, which is why we support all local, regional and global initiatives for the preservation and protection of forests.
